GETTING TO KNOW ME
Dottie B. here!

In addition to my 15 year career in the performing arts, I am an Indiana University Alumnus with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Master of Public Affairs in local government and public management. My work as an administrator and in arts management has given me a breadth of knowledge and experience. I have been proudly involved in many different performing arts companies, initiatives, and organizations.

My recent work has given great perspective and experience working in development, event and project management, negotiation, budget preparation, and staff management. Previously, I built experience as a Circus Show Designer with CircArts Circus in Victoria, Australia and dance instructor with Marlene's School of Dance.  I am so grateful to have furthered my craft abroad in Australia.

Now, I am back in my beloved Hoosier state and I continue to enrich the local arts and entertainment industry. I'm so honored to do what I love on and off stage! More than creating entertainment, as an active performing artist I must engage and uplift artists to tell our stories, enrich community, and give platform to diversity. I educate myself, own my privilege, work with and hire artists of color, accept feedback, and continue to be a better ally for marginalized communities.

It is no longer acceptable to place the labour of antiracism on BIPOC. It is no longer acceptable to tokenize queer artists, artists of color, and marginalized culture-creators. Allies must champion this work by uplifting diverse stories.

In the next chapter of my journey, I hope to combine my years of experience in the arts with my business acumen to work with you. If you are a producer or interested in collaborating, let's have a Dark & Stormy and get brain-stormy!
